Choc-Top Caramel Fruit Slice

Choc-Top Caramel Fruit Slice

  • Tip: This slice freezes well. Cut into squares and pack between layers of baking paper in a shallow plastic container.
  • Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Sunbeam Pitted Dates, chopped
  • ¾ cup Sunbeam Sultanas
  • ¾ cup dried pears, chopped
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1 cup instant breakfast oats
  • ¾ cup soft brown sugar
  • 125g butter or margarine
  • 2 x eggs, beaten
  • 1 block of chocolate for melting

Method

1.Line a 20 x 24cm slice tin with baking paper. Preheat oven to 180°C.
2.In a mixing bowl, combine the fruit, flour and oats.
3.In a small saucepan or microwave dish, warm sugar and margarine. Stir until butter melts, then pour into the dry mixture.
4.Add beaten eggs and stir to combine well. Spoon evenly into prepared tin.
5.Bake for about 25 minutes until dry and firm to the touch. Cool in the tin.
6.Melt chocolate in microwave or in a bowl over a pan of boiling water. Spread melted chocolate over slice then cool.
